Nothing Lasts Forever
The ultimate idea of "nothing lasting forever" is derived from a pessimistic outlook on life. If one fully believes nothing will last forever, they give up on humanity, ambition, and the overall ability to care for ones self and others. When one thinks of the phrase "make it last" it leaves you with the implication that whatever you're enjoying now will come to an end, so to hang onto it.
This piece captures the idea that "nothing lasts forever" using industrial and organic materials. The base of my project is composed of plaster and concrete to mimic the idea of a structured building, that alludes to the idea of permanence.
Over top, lays mold, sand to represent rust, and silver flake to represent to the idea of decay and erosion.
